The Lifeline program is a federal program that provides discounted phone services to qualifying low-income households. The program was created in 1985 to ensure that everyone has access to communication services, regardless of their income level. 

Consumers may qualify for the Lifeline Program if they participate in select government programs or meet the income requirements.

These current Government Programs may qualify you for Lifeline:

  • Medicaid
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (Food Stamps or SNAP)
  • Supplemental Security Income
  • Federal Public Housing Assistance
  • Veterans and Survivors Pension Benefit
  • Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance
  • Tribally-Administered Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
  • Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations
  • Tribal Head Start
  • Income is 135% or less than the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
